Llangynidr Reservoir wildfire no longer 'major incident'
Fire crews remain at the scene
Firefighters say they have made significant progress in bringing the wildfire near Llangynidr Reservoir, Ebbw Vale under control.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service have issued a joint update, as crews work to extinguish remaining hotspots and prevent re-ignition while ensuring the area is safe.
The incident has now been downgraded from a Major Incident, after a significant reduction in smoke levels.
Fire crews will remain in the area although helicopter support is said to be no longer required.
Road closures remain in place, with the public urged to follow diversion routes for safety and operational access.
Natural Resources Wales and Bannau Brycheiniog National Park Authority are evaluating the environmental impact and considering future restoration efforts.
People are being advised to stay away from affected areas.
