Gwent Police search for driver after car hits pedestrian in Abertillery

They say the 25-year-old pedestrian was left with serious injuries and was rushed to hospital on Friday night (April 11)

A 25-year-old man has been left with serious injuries after a driver failed to stop in a collision in Abertillery on Friday night (April 14).

Gwent Police have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses following the incident in Gaen Street at about 11.30pm.

Officers rushed to the scene, and were joined by paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service, as well as the Air Ambulance.

The pedestrian from Abertillery was hit by a red Seat Ibiza, and was taken to Cardiff's University Hospital of Wales for treatment.

The 25-year-old remains in hospital in a stable condition.

The driver of the Seat reportedly left the scene following the collision and enquiries are ongoing to identify this person.

The police are appealing for anyone with information, including CCTV, or motorists with dashcam footage, to get in touch.
