Firefighters remain on site in Port Talbot as major blaze continues
Road closures are still in place to allow emergency services access and to keep operations running smoothly.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews remain on scene this morning at Dock Road in Port Talbot, where a major commercial waste fire is ongoing.
Teams from Port Talbot, Neath, Morriston, Ammanford, and several other fire stations are working alongside South Wales Fire and Rescue Service to tackle the blaze, which involves around two hundred tonnes of commercial waste.
Firefighters made steady progress overnight and are still actively fighting the fire and monitoring hotspots.
Work continues with partner agencies as part of a coordinated response to bring the situation under control.
Road closures are still in place to allow emergency services access and to keep operations running smoothly.
Residents living nearby are being urged to keep windows and doors closed if smoke is present in their area.
Authorities are asking people to avoid the area while the incident is ongoing and to only call 999 if life or property is in immediate danger, so emergency resources can be managed effectively.
