Dramatic images have revealed the wreck of a light aeroplane which crashed in Powys seriously injuring the pilot.

The aircraft lost control shortly after leaving the runway at Talgarth Airfield on 27 December 2025.

An investigation into the cause of the crash found the wind was fully across the runway at the time of takeoff, with further turbulence causing the plane to roll and crash.

At the time of the crash, the plane was towing a glider, which contained two experienced pilots.

Both managed to escape injury in the crash, but the pilot of the plane was left with serious injuries.

An update on his condition was not provided by the Air Accident Investigation Branch.

The report said the club had since improved its weather reporting system and had begun work to improve its safety culture.
