Firefighters are tackling a major moorland wildfire near Ebbw Vale with crews drafted in from across Wales.

The blaze near Llangynidr Reservoir started yesterday (8 August), with teams from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service brought in to assist.

In an update this morning (9 August), South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "Crews are working alongside partner agencies and specialist contractors to contain the fire, which remains challenging due to the wind."

People living nearby are being urged to avoid the area, and close windows and doors if smoke if affecting them.

The service also added: "Please do not fly drones near the incident. Unauthorised drones can interfere with emergency operations and prevent firefighters from using specialist equipment to safely manage the incident."
