Man in hospital after five-car crash in the Rhondda

A man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a serious five-car crash in Tonyrefail.
The A4233 has been closed in both directions for more than sixteen hours following the collision, which happened just before 5pm on Thursday evening (11 December).
Emergency services rushed to the scene, and police say the road is expected to remain shut while investigation work continues.
The stretch affected is between the roundabout on the A4119 and the A4233 towards Trebanog.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said they were called at around 4:50pm yesterday (11 December) afternoon to a serious crash involving five vehicles in the area.
Officers are urging anyone with information to come forward as enquiries continue.
