Police in the Vale of Glamorgan are investigating a number of arson attacks on cars.

Three were targeted in Dinas Powys and one in Wenvoe in the early hours of Saturday December 21st.

One of the cars damaged in Dinas Powys belonged to a woman who had died just two days earlier.

Detective Sergeant Dave Nugent, from South Wales Police, said: “Being a victim of car crime at any time is upsetting, costly and an inconvenience.

“But to happen so close to Christmas, particularly for the gentleman who is still grieving the loss of his wife, is particularly devastating.

“This is very unusual for the area, and we are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.”

It is believed the fires were started deliberately sometime between 1.50am and 2.10am on Saturday, December 21.

Two of the vehicles were in Stacey Street, Dinas Powys, and the others were in St Andrews Road, Wenvoe, and Cross Common Road, Dinas Powys.

Anyone has information or footage which could help identify those responsible is asked to contact South Wales Police.
