Woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at Winchester nursing home

Police investigate as two elderly women are hospitalized with injuries

An investigation is underway following the arrest of a 49-year-old woman on suspicion of attempted murder at Westacre Nursing Home in Winchester.

Police were called to assist South Central Ambulance Service at 9:03am on Monday 23rd February after two elderly women were found with injuries.

An 83-year-old woman was treated for cuts to her upper body at the scene before being taken to the hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.

A second woman, aged 79, was also treated for similar injuries at the nursing home and was subsequently taken to hospital as a precaution.

She remains hospitalized.

Authorities believe the women may have been assaulted and are conducting enquiries to determine the details surrounding the incident.

No other injuries have been reported.

Community Concerns

The police have advised the public to contact the nursing home directly if they have concerns about other residents.

They recommend that routine appointments to the home be postponed while the investigation progresses.

The woman arrested remains in custody at this time.
