A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a serious assault in Portsmouth.

A man in his 50s was found with a serious head injury on Forton Road just after 1am on Friday (19 September). He was taken to hospital for treatment by the ambulance service.

An investigation has been launched and enquiries are underway to establish the full circumstances.

A 36-year-old woman from Portsmouth has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

She has been released on conditional bail until 19 December whilst enquiries continue.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information.

This includes anyone with doorbell camera, CCTV or dashcam footage of the area around this time.
