Waterlooville asylum accommodation plans will not go ahead

It been confirmed by the Home Office that proposals to use a building to accommodate asylum seekers in Waterlooville will not go ahead.

The Home Office considered the consultation response from Havant Borough Council and decided not to purchase the property as it has been deemed unsuitable.

The Leader of Havant Borough Council, Councillor Phil Munday previously stated before the verdict: “As a council we are utterly committed to doing our part to support the successful integration of asylum seekers into the borough. We recognise the need to support the government programme and will play our part wherever possible."
