One of the victims of a stabbing at a Halloween party in Chandler's Ford is said to be in a life-threatening condition, as police arrest two teenagers on suspicion of attempted murder.
A 17-year-old and 16-year-old, both from Southampton, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody.
Five teenage boys, three aged 16 and two aged 17, were stabbed on Saturday night after being invited to and attending a supervised party at an address in Park Road, Chandler's Ford.
Officers were called just after 10:30pm and they say it was reported a group of uninvited males had gained entry to the party via a garden fence, before assaulting the five guests within the garden and surrounding roads.
Two boys remain in hospital after suffering serious injuries, with one victim in a life-threatening condition, and the other three victims have been discharged from hospital.
Senior investigating officer DCI Elizabeth Pirie said: "Whilst the two arrests are a significant development in our investigation, which has moved at pace since the incident was first reported to us, we still urge our communities to contact us with any information, no matter how small it may seem.
“I understand the effect that such an incident will have had on the local community, and I do not underestimate the disruption that our scenes have caused to those living in the area. We are working hard to reduce the impact.
“We are extremely grateful for the understanding of our communities whilst we continue working to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident.
"If you were at the party and have not spoken with officers yet, or you have any CCTV, mobile phone, dash cam or doorbell camera footage covering Park Road and the surrounding area, then please get in touch.”
Police remain at the scene on Park Road carrying out enquiries, speaking with witnesses, identifying CCTV, and other available footage.
They say through the coming week, local officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team are visiting local schools and colleges to offer further advice and reassurance, as well as support to those directly and indirectly affected.
Police are asking anyone with concerns or information they'd like to discuss to come forward, as well as urging anyone with footage to speak with them.
