Police have appealed for information after two people were left seriously injured following a collision in Southampton.

Officers were called at 10.46am on Friday (24 April) to reports of an incident involving a lorry and two pedestrians – a man and a woman in their 60s – at Town Quay.

Both suffered serious injuries and remain in hospital.

A 69-year-old man from Sandown was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and has been released under investigation.

Police have thanked motorists for their patience as the Town Quay was closed for several hours.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, and who has relevant dash cam footage, is urged to contact police.
