Two men were safely rescued by emergency services after their vessel overturned, leaving them stranded in mud off Whale Island Way in Portsmouth.

The incident, which took place yesterday afternoon, saw crews from Southsea and Cosham fire stations collaborate with the Fareham water rescue team, coastguard, police, and ambulance services.

Responding to calls around four o’clock, firefighters deployed wading equipment and rescue sleds to reach the two men, who had become stuck after their vessel capsized.

The successful rescue operation brought the men back to the shore where paramedics assessed their condition.

Authorities are urging individuals to be mindful of tide times and safety precautions when engaging in activities like fishing or using paddleboards in the area.
