Two new artists are in the spotlight at The Windbreaks outdoor gallery on Southsea seafront.

Local artists Sarah Muwanga and Hollie Foskett have been selected as the latest talent to showcase their work on the seafront.

The gallery near Speaker's Corner, close to The Briny restaurant, offers local artists the opportunity to display their work for four months to beachgoers and passers-by.

Seafront Arts Programme Officer, Harry Scott, said: "In this third year of The Windbreaks displaying local art, I'm delighted to welcome Sarah and Hollie as the latest talents to have the chance to showcase their work in this prime spot within the new sea defences.

"The Windbreaks attracts numerous visitors to view the work on display, so it's a real boost for the local art scene and an amazing opportunity for local artists.

"Changing the art every four months offers local artists the opportunity to gain exposure and recognition for their talent before the opportunity is passed on to the next exhibitors."

Sarah's work, shaped by her experience of being mixed-race, features figurative oil painting, usually focused on a human subject, primarily women.

Her practice utilises layering, abrasion and texture, allowing her work to carry "traces of time, touch, and lived experience".

Her work, which has been exhibited across various London galleries, explores identity, intimacy, and the quiet psychology of everyday life.

Hollie Foskett's work, created under the name "Bitsifind", celebrates themes of softness, femininity, and mental health through playful drawings of the home, family life and nature.

After settling in Southsea, her practice became a space for healing, reflection and "bits the artist found out about life".

Hollie, a mature student at the University of Portsmouth, has exhibited with Hotwalls Studios, led workshops with Aspex for Women In Art, and featured in publications including Sketch Appeal: The Art of Self Love by Dulcie Ball.

The Windbreaks exhibition programme is funded through corporate sponsorship, and artists are paid a fee.
