Two people arrested after serious assault in Portsmouth

A man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries

Two people have been arrested in connection with a serious assault in Portsmouth.

Police were called just after midnight on Friday 24 April to a report of a serious assault on Cosham High Street.

Emergency services attended and found a 33-year-old man from Portsmouth with a serious head injury.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries and his condition is currently described as stable.

A police spokesperson said:

"An investigation has been launched and as part of our enquiries, officers have arrested an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy from Portsmouth on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

"They both remain in police custody at this time and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

An 18-year-old man from Petersfield previously arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent has been released with no further action to be taken.
