Tribute paid after death of motorcyclist William Shaw from Gosport

Family remembers vintage motorbike enthusiast and respected boat builder

The family of William Shaw, an 80-year-old motorcyclist from Gosport, have paid tribute to him following his passing due to injuries sustained in a crash.

The tragic incident occurred shortly after 1pm on 25th February 2026 on the A32 at Kingsmead. Mr Shaw was riding a black Velocett motorbike when it collided with a grey Audi A3.

Family Tribute

Mr Shaw's family released a heartfelt tribute, saying, "William was a much-loved father, brother and grandfather who will be very much sorely missed by family and friends."

They recounted his passion for vintage motorbikes and described his involvement with like-minded enthusiasts.

As a retired foreman boat builder, Mr Shaw worked at Camper and Nicholsons boatyard and was honored with the British Empire Medal for his contributions.

He was also a respected member of the Hardway sailing club in Gosport.

The family expressed gratitude for the emergency services and medical staff and requested privacy.
