Third teenager bailed in connection with Portsmouth stabbing
A 15-year-old boy was attacked close to a school in the city on Monday (March 10th)
Police investigating the stabbing of a teenage boy in Portsmouth have bailed a 14-year-old arrested in connection with the incident.
The 15-year-old boy was attacked close to Springfield School on Lower Drayton Lane in Drayton at around 3.46pm on Monday afternoon (March 10th).
He was treated for two small stab wounds, one to the elbow and one to his back, at hospital and has since been discharged.
The 14-year-old was the third to be arrested, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. he has been conditionally bailed until June 11th pending further enquiries.
A 14-year-old boy, arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. and a 16-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, have both also been conditionally bailed until June.
District Commander, Superintendent Paul Markham of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:
"You will see officers in the area while we progress our enquiries. We’re also engaging with Springfield School, which is close to where the assault took place, to provide reassurance to the school community.
"Anyone with any concerns can speak to one of our uniformed officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team who will be patrolling regularly.
"It’s important that we also highlight that tackling serious violence including knife crime, robustly dealing with offenders and working in partnership to prevent offending remain a priority in the city".
