Flats evacuated after fire breaks out in Southampton

It started in a kitchen on the 6th floor

Firefighters swiftly controlled a kitchen fire at a high-rise building in Southampton last night, preventing the need for a full evacuation.

At around 7pm, fire crews from Eastleigh, Fareham, Hightown, Redbridge, St Mary’s, and Totton responded to the emergency on the sixth floor.

The blaze is believed to have originated from an electrical issue.

Residents were evacuated from several floors as a precaution.

Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire efficiently, allowing for the situation to be resolved without further evacuations.

The stop message confirming the incident had been handled was issued at 9pm.
