Southampton City Council to host International Women's Day event
Women will be brought together to celebrate International Women's Day
This International Women's Day, Hampshire County Council's lighting up Southampton O2 Guildhall purple and will hold an event tomorrow where women will share their own stories.
This year's Give to Gain theme will see women come together and present speeches.
Cllr Pat Evemy is the Sheriff of Southampton, and is telling us what
She said: "We've got a variety of speakers who are talking about the sorts of things they've done in their lives to support others.
"This can be in a professional capacity or it could be through the volunteering work they do outside of work.
"It's also widening it to the theme of how we all, in a sense, can give to gain, whether it be in the workplace, or whether it be family, neighbours, whatever.
"The sorts of things that people do quietly and you don't necessarily always appreciate them at the time, but actually, it matters."
Residents are invited to join Monday (9th March)'s event online through Southampton City Council to hear stories from women contributing positively to Southampton.
International Women's Day (Sunday 8 March) is a global day that celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
The theme for International Women’s Day 2026 is #GiveToGain.
