Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision in Newport which has left a man with serious injuries.

The collision involved an electrically-assisted red pushbike and a black Ford Transit van on Furrlongs, Newport at 4:37pm on Monday 29th December.

The cyclist, a 44-year-old man from Newport, remains in hospital with serious injuries.

A 63-year-old man from Godshill has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injuries by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or has dashcam footage taken around the time of the incident, to contact 101, quoting reference 4425058339.
