Over one hundred thousand bars of soap have been donated to a New Forest Ukraine charity.

New Forest for Ukraine received 143,000 bars of soap from SoapAid to help support the charity's Soup and Soap campaign.

The charity say they hope the soap will help to restore health, confidence and hope to Ukrainians.

Mandy Haynes, NFFU Lead & Events Co-ordinator says “This is an incredible donation and a massive boost to our ‘Soup & Soap’ campaign.

"Our heartfelt thanks go to both SoapAid and Glasgow the Caring City for such support – it would be amazing if we match it with 143,000 cans of soup too!

"Local people have been so supportive, we recently called out for chocolate bunnies for an Easter delivery and were thrilled with securing 2824 for children in the conflict zone.

"We know when we ask the communities and businesses of the New Forest, that they will always do what they can and we thank them all.”

SoapAid has distributed tens of millions of bars worldwide since 2002 with the vision that no one should suffer ill health through lack of basic hygiene.

All soap is newly made - not recycled - and they say it's to ensure quality, dignity, and a zero-waste approach.

New Forest for Ukraine charity is a Lymington-based, volunteer-led charity delivering humanitarian aid to those affected by the war in Ukraine.
