Nine arrested after stabbing in Portsmouth leaves man with life-changing injuries
Officers appeal for public information to aid their investigation
Police are investigating a serious assault that occurred in Portsmouth, leaving a 50-year-old man with life-changing injuries after being stabbed in the stomach.
Emergency services were called to Fyning Road at the junction with Charles Street at around 4:30pm on Wednesday 28th January.
The victim was taken to hospital, where his condition has been described as serious but stable.
Arrests made
Nine individuals have been arrested in connection with the attack.
Those arrested on suspicion of attempted murder include:
A 16-year-old from Southsea
Three 15-year-olds from Portsmouth
A 14-year-old from Portsmouth
A 13-year-old from Portsmouth
These individuals have been bailed with conditions until 28th April.
A 19-year-old man from Southsea, also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, has been bailed with conditions until 30th April.
Additionally, a 14-year-old from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and bailed until 28th April.
A 15-year-old from Southsea faces charges of assisting an offender and obstructing/resisting a constable in execution of duty. This individual has been bailed with conditions until 29th April.
Appeal for information
Police are seeking assistance from anyone who may have been in the Arundel Street Garden or surrounding area around or after 4:00pm on 28th January.
Witnesses or those with CCTV, dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage from the area are urged to come forward.
