Portsmouth Council have partnered with the NHS to create a new series of self-help videos for new parents.

Families in Mind is an NHS-based support service help parents in the transition to parenthood.

They have launched two new series of videos which were co-created with Portsmouth parents to help new parents with their emotional wellbeing.

Over 30 parents attended workshops at Milton Park Family Hub to share their experiences and opinions as parents.

The videos were produced by both Portsmouth City Council and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Charlotte Gatehouse, Specialist Community Public Health Nurse said: “By involving real parents from across Portsmouth mums, dads, carers, and expectant parents we’ve developed tools that speak honestly to the everyday challenges families face."

The topics of the two series included ‘getting to know your baby’s cues’ and ‘Stress busting self-care tips’ like ‘grounding and breathing exercises to practice at home.’
