Man in hospital following shooting in Southampton

A man is in hospital following a shooting in Southampton last night (Thursday 13th).

Hampshire Police said the victim, in his 30s, was found with a gunshot wound to his arm following a 'serious assault' in the St Mary's area of the city.

Officers were called to the junction of St Mark’s Road, Northbrook Road and Nichols Road at 10.08pm, along with members of the South Central ambulance service.

The man is said to be in a stable condition and his injuries are not being described as life-threatening or life-changing at this time.

No arrests have yet been made,.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said:

"We do not currently believe there to be a wider risk to the public.

"We are carrying out enquiries as a matter of urgency in order to identify and locate those responsible.

Officers will remain in the area today and can be approached with any concerns, information or questions.

As our investigation progresses today we are keen to hear from anyone was in the vicinity of Derby Road, St Mark’s Road, Northbrook Road or Nichols Road yesterday evening shortly after 10pm.

"Did you witness anything suspicious or out of place, or did you witness the assault itself, the moments leading up to it or the aftermath?

"Perhaps you were driving through the area and have dash cam that may have captured something.
