Man charged following knife incident in Ryde

A man has been charged in connection with a knife-related incident in Ryde.

Police were called to reports a couple had the weapon thrust towards them while walking in Angelsea Street at around 6.50pm on Wednesday (February 19th).

Officers said both people were not struck by the knife and did not receive any injuries.

Rory Corderey-Jones, who is 36 and of Station Street in Ryde, has been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of a knife in a public place.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Saturday (February 22nd).

At the hearing, he was further remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on Friday (Febaruary 28th).
