Man arrested in Portsmouth after serious collision on London Road

Police are appealing for information and witness after a serious collision in Portsmouth that saw one man arrested.

A 26-year-old man from Portsmouth was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drink driving, and drug driving.

He is currently in custody.

Police were called at 11.51am to a report of a collision on London Road.

This involved a black Volkswagen Golf and a cyclist. The cyclist, a man in his 60s, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The road was closed temporarily while emergency services worked at the scene but this has since been reopened.

The driver of the Volkswagen fled the scene on foot but was located shortly afterwards in Kirby Road.

Police are asking anyone with information, or dash cam or CCTV footage, to contact them on 101 and quoting reference 44250465445.
