Man arrested in connection with Ricky Haywood murder in 1989

Police investigating the murder of a man shot dead above a jewellers in Southampton in 1989 have made an arrest.
Richard Haywood, known to many as Ricky, was 36-years-old when he was shot multiple times in his flat above Ambiance Jewellers on Shirley Road, Southampton on 16 October 1989.
A 55-year-old man from Southampton - arrested on suspicion of murder - has now been released on police bail until October 6.
A spokesman for Hampshire Police said:
"As our investigation continues we are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward. No matter how small or insignificant it may seem, your information could be vital.

The independent charity Crimestoppers continues to offer a reward of up to £20,000 for information given exclusively to them that leads to a conviction.
This reward expires on 14 August 2026 - only information given directly to the charity is eligible.
