Man, 80s, dies after crash in Ferndown

A man in his 80s from Eastleigh, Hampshire, has died following a collision involving a Nissan Qashqai and a Range Rover in Ferndown.
The incident occurred on Friday, 11th September 2026, at around 1pm on the westbound carriageway of the A31 near Ameysford roundabout.
Initially, no injuries were reported, and police were not called to the scene.
However, the man, who was a passenger in the Nissan, became seriously unwell and passed away in hospital on 20th September.
Dorset Police were informed of the incident by the Hampshire Coroner on 23rd September.
Police Constable Jack Honnywill from the Roads Policing Team stressed the importance of piecing together the details: “Our thoughts are very much with the family, friends and loved ones of the man who sadly died.
"We are carrying out enquiries as we seek to establish the full circumstances of this collision, and I would urge any witnesses to please contact us. I am also keen to hear from anyone who was travelling in the vicinity and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.”
