The inquest into the death of a 49-year-old skydive instructor has been opened following an incident at Dunkeswell Aerodrome.

This sad case has marked the third death at the location in the space of nine months.

During a public hearing at Exeter County Hall earlier this week, the coroner initiated the inquest into the death of Charles John McNeil.

The 49-year-old died on Saturday 28th February after emergency services were called just before 1pm due to concerns for his welfare.

He had been living in Poole, Dorset, and was known for his roles as a skydive instructor and HGV driver.

The Coroner's opening deposition revealed that "due to unknown reasons the parachute was not deployed" during the skydive on the day of Charles' death.

The Inquest has now been adjourned until a later date.
