A huge area of Hampshire has been destroyed by a field fire which broke out in Chilbolton on Sunday (02 August).

More than 50 firefighters were sent to tackle the blaze, which spread across an area around the size of 70 football patches.

The fire nearly reached a fuel storage facility - but firefighters managed to keep it away from the area.

An update on Hampshire Fire and Rescue's website posted on Monday morning said: "A crew from Sutton Scotney returned to the scene this morning to carry out another inspection. They found no signs of smoke or hotspots and confirmed that no further re-inspections are needed."
