Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary AI tool recognised in national awards
They're nominated for the first public-facing agentic AI solution deployed within UK policing
An artificial intelligence solution tool used for the first time by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary and Thames Valley Police has received national recognition.
The forces were nominated in recognition of the introduction of Bobbi, the first public-facing agentic AI solution deployed within UK policing.
Bobbi provides a conversational way to access police services, resolve enquiries and receive support online.
Chief Superintendent Clare Knibbs, said: "To be shortlisted at the NPCC Innovation and Digital Awards is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the hard work, collaboration and innovation shown by everyone involved in delivering Bobbi.
"From the outset, our aim was to improve the experience of those who contact us, making it easier for people to access information and support while allowing our contact management teams to focus on the most urgent and complex incidents.
"Bobbi is already delivering real benefits for the public and for our staff, and we are proud to be leading the way in exploring how emerging technologies can support modern policing."
The tool has dealt with more than 10,000 interactions with members of the public and independently resolved more than 75% of enquiries without the need for human intervention.
The initiative was introduced to help meet growing public demand for fast, accessible, and digital-first services while reducing pressure on traditional 101 contact channels.
Before it launched, Bobbi was under extensive development, testing and assurance, involving more than 1,500 test questions, 200 participants, and 1,200 live conversations.
The force say the technology has helped to reduce demand on contact management teams, improve responsiveness for those requiring support from officers or staff, and enabled contact handlers to focus on higher-risk and more complex incidents.
