A Hampshire family is telling us they're frustrated to still not have answers on the 32nd anniversary of the Mull of Kintyre Chinook crash.

The crash killed 29 leading personnel on the 2nd June 1994 - the cause is still unknown.

Esme Sparks and Lucy Sparks

Lucy Sparks lost her father, Major Gary Sparks, in the crash and has since campaigned for answers.

She said: "It's really difficult because we feel like we're screaming into a void.

"We've got all the evidence behind us - we've got the technical expertise from the late great David Hill, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

"We have continued unanswered questions around the circumstances of the crash and we are saying that we've got it written down in black and white and we need that to be re-reviewed.

"As a campaign group, we are very much still committed and we are stronger than ever, more resolute than ever.

"We are prepared to continue that fight for as long as it takes."

The Ministry of Defence have issued a response.

A spokesperson said: “Our thoughts and sympathies remain with the families, friends, and colleagues of all those who died in the Mull of Kintyre crash.

“The MOD continues to engage with the Chinook Justice Campaign (CJC) throughout this process.

"Defence Ministers have met with Campaign representatives to listen to their concerns, and the CJC also met with the Ministry of Justice Victims Minister in March 2026.

"The CJC submitted a formal claim for Judicial Review in September 2025, and the MOD is focused on responding fully to that claim and to the allegations it contains.

"We will not be offering comment on issues that are being considered as part of that independent process.”
