A Hampshire charity say giving stalking a legal definition could help to stop a "postcode lottery" in accessing support.

It comes as charity, Stop Domestic Abuse, is seeing a rise in numbers of stalking, with highest figures in Portsmouth and Southampton.

Chelsea Haslett works for Stop Domestic Abuse.

She said: "The impact can be life-long lasting.

"With stalking the impact on the victim survivor is that it impacts every part of their day-to-day life.

"Their mental health, their wellbeing and potentially their finances as well.

"It shouldn't be a postcode lottery as to where you live as to what support you can access.

"It should be a given that if you're a victim survivor of stalking, that support is offered and to an acceptable standard."
