Police launch witness appeal after woman assaulted in Portsmouth

A woman was running on Perrone Road when she was assaulted by an unknown man.

Hampshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Portsmouth.

At around 8am on Tuesday, a woman in her 30s was running on Peronne Road when an unknown hooded man ran up behind her and hit her on her bottom. He then ran away down a side road.

Although the hit was painful, the woman suffered no physical injuries.

The man is described as white, between 20 and 30-years-old, around 6ft tall with an athletic build. He was wearing a black puffa jacket, a hoody worn tightly around his face, and dark trousers.

Officers have conducted a number of enquiries and now need the public's help for any information they may have to assist the investigation.
