Gosport community invited to celebrate emergency services and charities
An event is taking place today in the town centre
The Gosport community's being invited to an event to celebrate emergency services and charities today (Saturday April 11th).
Lawrence Square and the Town Hall reception will host stalls, demonstrations and activities from 11am till 2pm as part of 'Gosport Community Day'.
Emergency services will be on hand to give demonstrations, vehicle tours and advice on keeping Gosport safe, including Gosport Police, Hampshire Fire, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Hampshire Search and Rescue.
Tim Houghton, Chief Executive of Community First, said: “Gosport Community Day is a fantastic opportunity for people to learn about the incredible work being done in the community, that is often not shouted about.
“For anyone interested in learning about how to get involved in volunteering and the opportunities available in the area, it’s worth attending.”
There will be free family activities including an Easter hunt, face painting with Fantazzy and an opportunity to have a bicycle security marked by police, to prevent theft.
The free event is being run by Community First, Safer Gosport and Gosport Borough Council.
Anyone can attend on the day – no tickets or booking required.
