Witnesses sought after man seriously injured in Fratton assault
Police appeal for information following Somers Road North attack
Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Fratton that resulted in a 43-year-old man being hospitalised with a head injury.
The incident happened on Somers Road North at around 6:25pm on Tuesday (3rd March), and authorities were alerted shortly after 7:45pm by South Central Ambulance Service.
The injured man was transported to Southampton General Hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the assault. A 54-year-old has been bailed until 3rd June pending further enquiries, while a 34-year-old has been released without charge and will face no further action.
Initial inquiries indicate there were several potential witnesses in the area when the assault took place.
