A new film office in Hampshire is hoped to boost jobs in the industry.

The Hampshire and Solent Film Office is aiming to boost the local economy, attract more film productions to the area and increase job availability for people on the South Coast.

Andrew Pavord, Chief Executive and Founder of FilmFixer, is telling us his hopes.

He said: "We can’t wait to get cracking - there are lots of opportunities and some fantastic locations in Hampshire.

"We are about to start accepting permit applications and building the location library.”

Expenditure on film and high-end TV production in the UK was worth more than £5.2 billion in 2024.

A new film office is hoped to mean more of this investment comes to locations across Southampton, Portsmouth and Hampshire.

The location management service will, once established, be fully self-funding and is hoped to attract additional income to the owners of film locations in the area, including local authorities.

Cllr Steve Pitt, Leader - Portsmouth City Council, said: “The launch of the film office is great news for the local economy.

"Attracting more film productions to the area will mean more income for local businesses more jobs for local people and more visitors to tourism destinations in the area.”

The launch was sponsored by Farnborough International Studio.

Rachel Morrison, Studio Director, said: “The launch of the Hampshire and Solent Film Agency is the best possible news for the local film industry.

"It will enable the area to punch its weight and attract productions which have in recent years gone to other parts of the country where more support is available.”
