40 firefighters tackle crop fire in Titchfield

Around 40 firefighters have been tackling a field fire near Titchfield.

The fire started yesterday afternoon, off Meon Road, when a combine harvester caught alight - and spread to two fields of crops.

Around 30 hectares of standing crop was destroyed.

Emergency crews used multiple hose reel jets and farm machinery to create fire breaks, effectively stopping the fire's progression.

Timely Response

Immediate road closures were put in place on Meon Road, Fareham to help the emergency response.

Fire engines from Fareham, Gosport, Portchester, Wickham, and Cosham, along with specialist vehicles and crews from Eastleigh, Havant, Lyndhurst, Hardley, Beaulieu, and Andover attended.

Public and Partner Support

Residents were thanked for avoiding the area while emergency services worked to address the fire.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary helped with traffic management.
