A number of schoolchildren have escaped unharmed after a collision on the M27 involving their coach, a car and a tipper truck.

It happened at 9:35 this morning near junction 4, close to Southampton airport.

None of the children have been hurt, but police say an adult on the coach has been left with a minor leg injury.

Liberal Democrat MP for Eastleigh Liz Jarvis has issued a statement: “I would like to thank the emergency services for their swift response and my thoughts are with everyone impacted by this incident.”

Hampshire Police say there are expected to be delays on the motorway following the collision.
