Man charged with attempted murder after woman found with serious injury in Southampton

A 31-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a serious assault in Southampton.

Police were called to Peartree Road at approximately 8pm on Monday, 13th April, where a 25-year-old woman was found with a severe head injury that could be life-threatening.

The woman is currently in hospital receiving treatment.

Mandeep Singh, of Sheffield Road, Portsmouth, has been charged with attempted murder and with assaulting, ill-treating, neglecting, or abandoning a child to cause unnecessary suffering.

Singh is set to appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court today, 15th April, after being remanded in custody.

Deputy district commander for Southampton, Chief Inspector Chris Douglas, emphasized ongoing police presence in the Peartree Avenue area.

He stated:

“We will continue to have officers in the area of Peartree Avenue today. When you see them, please do stop and discuss any concerns or information you may have."
