A 30-year-old man from Afghanistan is facing a prison sentence after pleading guilty to sexual offences against three women and entering the UK illegally.

Sohail Amiri, of Highfield Lane, Southampton, entered his pleas to two charges of sexual assault against two women on September 23 and November 25 as well as the attempted sexual assault of a third victim on September 23.

He denied the sexual assault of the third woman and the plea was accepted by the prosecution.

Amiri, who spoke with the assistance of a Pashto interpreter, also pleaded guilty to entering the United Kingdom without leave on October 23 2023 contrary to Section 24 of the Immigration Act 1971.

Judge Nicholas Rowland adjourned the case at Southampton Crown Court for sentencing on February 6 and remanded the defendant in custody until then.
