A27 in West Sussex closed in both directions due to police investigation

Diversion routes in place for eastbound and westbound traffic

The A27 in West Sussex has been closed in both directions as Sussex Police respond to an ongoing incident near Woodmancote.

The closure affects the eastbound carriageway near Emsworth and the westbound carriageway near Chichester. National Highways Traffic Officers are assisting police, but no details of the incident have been released.

Diversion routes

Motorists are advised to follow diversion routes displayed on local road signs.

Eastbound traffic should:

  • Exit the A27 eastbound at the Emsworth Interchange
  • Join the A259 eastbound
  • Continue on the A259 to Fishbourne Roundabout and re-join the A27

Westbound traffic should:

  • Exit the A27 westbound at the Fishbourne Roundabout onto the A259
  • Follow the A259 westbound
  • Continue on the A259 to the Emsworth Interchange and re-join the A27

Drivers are reminded there are temporary traffic lights for utility works on the A259 at Prinstead, which may impact journey times.
