Work has begun on the renovation of Yeovil Police Station, located at Horsey Lane, after it closed in 2019. The refurbishment is being carried out by TCi (GB) Ltd and aims to modernise the station for Avon and Somerset Police operations.

The project includes upgrading the building's mechanical and electrical systems, modernising the interior spaces, and constructing a new vehicle workshop. Additionally, a new external staircase will be added to comply with current fire safety standards.

Once the renovation is completed, the station will serve as a policing hub for Yeovil and its surroundings. The upgraded facilities will offer improved working conditions and enhanced welfare and training amenities for both officers and staff.

Neighbourhood Inspector Rose Green expressed enthusiasm about the project, saying: "It's great to see work now starting on site. This project represents a significant investment in policing in Yeovil and will provide a modern base that better supports our officers and staff as they serve the community."

In preparation for the refurbishment, the temporary police inquiry office previously located outside the building at Horsey Lane is being relocated to Somerset Council’s offices at Brympton Way, with a reopening expected at the start of March. This temporary arrangement will remain in place until the renovation is completed, at which point a new public inquiry office will open at the upgraded Horsey Lane station.

Throughout the refurbishment period, police teams will continue their operations around Yeovil, with officers based at Brympton Way. The project is expected to reach completion in 2027.
