Adam Dance, MP for Yeovil, has successfully secured a government commitment to rollout lung cancer screening in Yeovil by 2030.

The initiative follows his ongoing efforts to enhance early cancer diagnosis and care in South Somerset.

Recently, Ashley Dalton MP, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, responded to Dance's written inquiry, demanding details on expanding cancer screening programmes in the area.

Dalton confirmed that by 2030, every eligible individual in England would receive an invitation for a lung cancer screening check.

Dance's inquiry is part of a broader campaign aimed at improving local NHS services.

His initiatives include efforts to preserve the maternity unit at Yeovil Hospital and the successful establishment of a new NHS dentist in Chard, with plans for another opening in Crewkerne.

Adam Dance MP expressed concern over the urgency of cancer diagnosis, he said: "Nearly 3.5 million people across the UK are living with a cancer diagnosis, and 1 in 2 people will receive a diagnosis in their lifetime. This is an issue that is incredibly close to my heart.

I welcome this commitment, but time matters with cancer. Patients cannot afford to wait years for earlier diagnosis.

As the MP for Yeovil and South Somerset, I will continue to push for better cancer treatment and support, and ensure residents can access the services they need."
