Witnesses sought after high-value burglary at Yeovil builders’ merchants
Police appeal for information following theft of heavy-duty construction machinery
Police are seeking help from the public after a significant burglary at a builders’ merchants in Yeovil, where construction machinery was stolen.
A group of individuals gained access to the premises on Hendford Hill between 4.30pm on 28th February and 7pm on 1st March.
Several pieces of heavy-duty construction equipment were loaded onto an HGV before the thieves left the site via Lysander Road.
It is believed that the burglary was planned by two individuals on the morning of 28th February, who then returned the following day to carry out the theft.
The HGV involved is described as large, with blue, high-sided curtains covering the main cargo area, and was accompanied by a dark vehicle.
Police are urging anyone who was in the area and might have seen these individuals arrive to come forward.
Nearby drivers with dashcam footage from Hendford Hill or Lysander Road might hold vital information, and local businesses or residents with CCTV footage are also encouraged to assist the investigation.
Neighbourhood Inspector Rose Green said, "We understand the recent high-value burglary on Hendford Hill has caused concern within the local community. We want to reassure residents and businesses that this investigation is ongoing, and officers are working tirelessly to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
"A detailed review of CCTV has been completed, and further enquiries are being carried out to gather all available evidence. This was a sophisticated and organised high-value burglary, and we urge anybody with information, no matter how small or trivial it may seem, to contact us."
