Woman in 80s in hospital after dog attack in Taunton park

A woman in her 80s is in hospital following a dog attack in Taunton's French Weir Park.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon (12th August) and has led to the arrest of a 42-year-old man on suspicion of having a dog that was dangerously out of control.

A dog, whose breed is currently unknown, has been seized by the police and placed in kennels.

Officers responded to the scene at around 4.10 pm after reports that the woman had suffered a dog bite to her leg.

Her injuries are considered potentially life-changing.

Police were able to identify a dog at the scene and subsequently arrested a man.

Reassurance patrols by the Neighbourhood Policing Team are underway in the area.
