Images of two men have been released as part of an investigation into an attempted arson at a barber shop in Wincanton.

The incident occurred at a barber shop located on Church Street around 7.30am on Saturday, 14th March.

Two men reportedly tried to smash a window with a rock and then used an accelerant on the glass and door, setting it alight.

Although the fire did not take hold, significant damage was caused to the front of the shop and the pavement, before the suspects fled toward North Street.

Detective Constable Chloe Murray described the incident as "very concerning," noting the presence of flats above the shop and the potential impact if the fire had spread.

In their continued efforts to solve the case, authorities have conducted house-to-house, CCTV, and forensic enquiries, alongside increased patrols of the area.

The two men caught on CCTV are both described as white.

One is of medium build, wearing a black hooded top, dark coloured trousers, and black trainers.

The second is of slim build, wearing a black hooded gilet, dark trousers, and black trainers.

Anyone who recognises the men in the images or has information related to the case is encouraged to contact the authorities online or by calling 101, citing reference number 5226070773.
