Two people taken to hospital after A303 crash near Chard

One person has sustained potentially life changing injuries

Two people have been taken to hospital after a collision involving three vehicles on the A303 near Chard.

Avon and Somerset Police said officers were called to the road at around 1:20pm this afternoon (30 July).

The force said one of the people has sustained potentially life changing injuries.

The next of kin of both the injured people have been informed and police say their being kept updated.

A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury through driving without due care and attention.

He remains in police custody.

The A3030 remains closed between the junctions of Newtown Road and Royston Road and drivers are being urged by police to use alternative routes.
