Careful planning has been credited for one of the smoothest journeys yet to the 2025 Glastonbury Festival.

More than 210,000 people were able to get on site with minimal disruption, thanks to Somerset Council’s Traffic Management team working closely with organisers and contractors.

The use of high-tech solutions like variable message signs and CCTV meant problems on the roads could be dealt with quickly, keeping things moving for festival-goers and the local community.

The report is going to be considered by Somerset Council's Scrutiny panel this morning (08/12).

In the document, it outlines the work of Somerset Council's Traffic Management Team: "The traffic management plan for the 2025 Glastonbury Festival was delivered with a high degree of professionalism and collaboration, resulting in one of the most successful operations to date.

"Careful planning and coordination between Somerset Council’s Traffic Management team, festival organisers, and contractors ensured that over 210,000 visitors were able to access the site efficiently, with minimal disruption to local communities and road networks.

"The deployment of integrated ITS solutions—including variable message signs, CCTV, and ANPR cameras—enabled real-time monitoring and rapid response to evolving traffic conditions.

"The 2025 Glastonbury Festival traffic management plan again proved highly effective, ensuring smooth access for attendees and minimal impact on local communities. The collaborative approach and use of advanced technologies were key to its success."
