Old traffic lights across parts of Somerset are being replaced.

The upgrades are planned for Stapleton Cross at Martock, the A37 Lydford Cross Keys, and the B3153 at Lovington.

The council says replacing them now means less chance of the lights failing and causing traffic problems.

The council stated:

"Work at Stapleton Cross Martock and A37 Lydford Cross Keys is due to start on June 22, 2026, finishing in early September with 4-way temporary traffic lights and overnight closures on specific roads. Signed diversions will be in place.

At Lydford, the A37 will remain open at all times with overnight closures affecting the B3153 Castle Cary Road in both east and west directions.

From early September 2026, work will begin on the B3153 at Lovington, with completion due in November 2026, involving full road closures with signed alternative routes."
